Still Running Hot- Welder Mewtwo Deck Profile! || Card Cavern

With the release of all the new Sword & Shield expansions, we are continuing to get strong VMAX cards that make many of the past Tag Team cards fall off. One Tag Team card that has still proven itself to be strong is Mewtwo & Mew GX(MEW3)! Mewtwo & Mew GX has continued to see success with Welder!  Charizard GX - 9/68 - Hidden Fates | Card Cavern

Mewtwo & Mew GX, despite losing quite a few partners like Solagelo GX & Magcargo GX, is still performing well in online tournaments and proving to be a top deck! With this deck, we are using a split of Psychic energy attackers and Fire attackers. The first 2 Fire attackers being the 2 Charizard GXs! Charizard GX (HIF) has a GX attack that does 300 damage for 4 energy; with a few Welders or a Flare Starter from Volcanion, you can easily get this going on your second turn! This can be used to OHKO tag teams like ADP & can also put pressure onto VMAXs! Reshiram & Charizard is good as a fire attacker for the Metal matchups and has Flare strike and Outrage as attacking options; if Mew3 takes a lot of damage you dish out more damage with Outrage! As for Psychic attackers, we have Gengar & Mimikyu GX, which has Horror House GX as an attacking option to buy a turn, or you can use Poltergeist to take a big KO if your opponent has a big hand and a lot of Trainer cards in that hand! Muk & Alolan Muk GX can be used for its ability to poison your opponent, which is helpful against decks like Obstagoon & Decidueye! While those decks play Big Parasol now, poisoning can still be annoying for them! There are other attackers to play to help counter those wall Pokémon.

Naganadel GX is another big player in this deck as it can be used to do 170 to a Pokémon on the bench like Dedenne GX or finish off an already damaged Pokémon! Sometimes Naganadel GX is used to close out games! Incineroar GX is good in here for its GX attack to be able to take a big OHKO on something if Mew3 takes a bunch of damage & is not KO'd! Incineroar's attack Crushing punch is also pretty useful sometimes to remove your opponent's special energy. The Jirachi GX is in the deck for any Psychic matchup you run into as Mew3 is weak to psychic, though Jirachi's Star Search attack can sometimes be useful! The Victini V, while does not work with Mew3's ability, is here as a nice non 3 prize attacker for Metal, but also replaces Solgaleo GX to help re-accelerate energy back onto your Mewtwos! Indeedee V is here to help heal your Mewtwo, which can also make the math awkward for your opponent, even against decks using Galarian Zigzagoon! Indeedee V can also attack with Welder and Horror Energy to hit other Mew3s or even Centiskorch VMAX for a lot of damage! The 2 Voclanions can help with Flare Starter if you go second to power up a Mewtwo and to attack Decidueye & Altaria! The 1 of Zigzagoon is important for adding the extra bit of damage for specific attackers like Charizard GXs GX attack to do 310 damage to an ADP with a Big Charm on it!

This is a Welder based deck, so we do play a lot of draw ability outs! Using 3 Dedenne GX to help discard our attackers for Mew3 and help dig through our deck for Welders! Crobat V is also for the same reason to have more draw power! The Eldegoss V can also let you reuse a discarded supporter like Welder or Boss's Orders! Alongside these draw Pokémon, the deck also uses 4 Pokégear to help find Welders! The deck also plays quite a bit of ways to find and discard your attackers, like 4 Cherish Ball for all your GXs and 4 Quick Balls, and Giant Hearth to discard a Pokémon to get 2 energy for your Welder! The 1 Big Charm is here for Mewtwo to give it more HP when staring down something like an Eternatus VMAX that can OHKO it! Big Charm with Indeedee V also helps make the math awkward for some attackers! Finally, the Horror Energy serves to use the Psychic attacks and add extra damage. When a Pokémon attacks your active with a Horror Energy on, they take 20 damage, which can really help with the Charizard GX's attack, Flare Blitz! Some other cards that can be added in this deck are: Scoop Up Net/Jirachi/Giratina, Aurora Energy & Greninja GX & Vileplume GX, Reset Stamp, 1 Mallow & Lana, Vitality Band, Tag Call & Incineroar V!

Mewtwo & Mew GX is still doing well & even more variants of it are also starting to show success like Frosmoth/Mew3 & Rotom/Mew3! Mewtwo & Mew may have even more unique builds to come out of the creative minds of people who build a deck around Mewtwo & Mew GX's incredible ability, but only time will tell!
