The Powerful & Bulky Drednaw VMAX! Deck Profile

With Champion's Path, we received three new 3 VMAX cards, and the one that I enjoy the most is Drednaw VMAX! I have played around with Drednaw VMAX quite a bit, and I find it pretty strong! Thanks to Drednaw VMAX's ability and Buff Padding, Drednaw can have 400 HP! Let's take a look at my list I have been using and break it down!

Frosmoth - 64/202 - Sword & Shield - Holo

With this Drednaw VMAX list, we use Frosmoth to power it up in one turn! Drednaw VMAX can do 160 damage, but if you flip a coin and get heads, it does 80 more damage; This means you can do a total of 240 damage! This is pretty good as you can KO stuff like PikaRom & Zacian V in one hit! You're also a Water-type, so you can destroy Centiskorch VMAX. Doing 160 damage can KO cards like Dedenne GX in one hit & can 2 hit KO most VMAXs, or you can do 160 then 240 to KO VMAXs like Eternatus! We use Glimwood tangle in this deck to help with doing 240 damage every turn, which is the preferred amount of damage you want instead of 160 just to be safe from healing cards. Drednaw V makes for a decent attacker as with its ability, and with Buff Padding, it can have a total of 290 HP! It does 130 for 3 energy and can make it so your opponent's active cannot retreat! This is decent as you can force your opponent to either have a switch, or they're stuck; this attack can be helpful against Zacian V & Crobat V/Dedenne GX!

There are some other tech Pokémon in here to help in different situations. First off is the Wailord V. Now Wailord V is a pretty cool card as it has naturally good synergy with Glimwood Tangle & Buff Padding! Wailord V's attack for 4 Water energy does 120, and you flip 3 coins doing 120 for each heads, doing a total of 360 damage for 3 heads! Wailord is primarily here for Zamazenta V, as with only 2 heads, you can one-hit KO it! The Suicune is here for the Decidueye and Altaria matchup as it can damage both Decidueye and Altaria! Marshadow is here to get rid of Chaotic Swell so you can put Glimwood Tangle in play to try to reach 240 damage! There is not much in the way of trainers here that you have not yet seen in most Frosmoth builds.

I am using Energy Retrieval in here; most Frosmoth decks play Training Court now for energy recovery. I have opted for Energy Retrieval as we cannot play Training Court because we play Glimwood Tangle instead. The 1 of Weakness Guard energy is essential for the PikaRom matchup as they hit you for weakness, though with 400 HP and without Electropower anymore, it isn't too easy for PikaRoms to one-hit KO your Drednaw VMAXs. Lastly, the Air Balloons are important as Frosmoth only powers up Water Pokémon on your bench, so you want to have something in the active before you switch into your new attacker! Some other options for cards to play in here include Lapras V, Keldeo GX for Eterantus VMAX, 1-1 Inteleon VMAX line, Mallow & Lana, and a 3rd Buff Padding!

Drednaw VMAX is, in my opinion looking to be a pretty decent deck to play right now and is a ton of fun to play as well. While I do not think Drednaw VMAX is as good as Inteleon VMAX is, I think it has some good strengths that make it stand out from it! I am excited to see if Drednaw VMAX shows any cool performances right now in our Standard format or in the future!
